Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma pushed for faster construction on July 23. He chaired the fourth Mi-PRAGATI committee meeting to audit major state projects. He wants results now. Officials reviewed the Aizawl Western Bypass Road. They tackled roadblocks including forest clearance, unpaid compensation, and refugee relocation.
The Vairengte-Sairang section of NH-306 and NH-06 shows some progress. This four-lane artery links Mizoram to Assam. Workers finished a 2 per cent increase in physical work since the last check. Court battles over land ownership continue to stall other sections of the route.
The Ekta Mall in Aizawl sits at 21 per cent completion. Teams built a materials testing lab and bought all required machinery for the site. The committee also debated the Khamrang-Selesih road, the Sihhmui to Railway Station expansion, and the Suaka Cricket Stadium approach road. These projects face hurdles from a Public Interest Litigation and ongoing compensation fights. Lalduhoma told departments to "pursue unresolved issues more vigorously" to finish the work. The state launched the Mi-PRAGATI initiative last year to force faster development across Mizoram.
