Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma declared war on graft on October 28. Speaking at a Vigilance Awareness Week event in Aizawl, he demanded total accountability from every government employee. The administration is shifting away from empty talk. "We are not fighting corruption through words alone. We are introducing new systems and taking concrete action," the chief minister said.
The state government is closing loopholes to stop the bleeding of public funds. Officials now use biometric attendance to track hours. The state also granted general consent for the Central Bureau of Investigation to probe corruption cases. A new online grievance platform called Mipui Aw is live, and the government is expanding services under the Right to Public Services Act.
New rules stop officials from handing contracts to family members or close associates under a fresh integrity pact. To kill off unviable schemes, the state centralized project management and formed a Project Monitoring Committee to watch over all work. Lalduhoma also told citizens to report any substandard public construction immediately. He is pushing to give the Anti-Corruption Bureau more teeth while strengthening the Lokayukta.
The chief minister claims Mizoram currently maintains one of the highest conviction rates in India. He pointed to the state's rising tourist numbers and the safety of urban areas for women and children as signs of a healthy society. Officials must uphold high ethical standards to keep the momentum going. Success requires every citizen to stay vigilant.
