Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma ordered All India Service officers from outside the state to learn the Mizo language and local customs. He kicked off a 14-day training program in Aizawl this Thursday focused on Mizo culture, language, society, and values. This marks the state’s first initiative of its kind.

Effective governing requires more than just following policy. Lalduhoma told the staff they must earn the public’s trust. "For this, it is essential to build mutual trust and maintain good relations with the public. Understanding people's problems and concerns required officials to familiarise themselves with their language, way of life and culture, which is among the foremost priorities," he stated. He emphasized the traditional value of Tlawmngaihna, which focuses on community service and selflessness, as a vital bond for the local population.

Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena expects the program to bridge the gap between administrators and the community. The sessions run daily for one hour until October 28. A total of 41 officers from the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service, and Indian Forest Service joined the course. Officials confirmed 19 participants posted across various districts will attend the training online.
