Imphal: Manipur's Chief Electoral Officer Arun Kumar Sinha has appointed 11 nodal officers and three assistants to manage the 2027 assembly elections. The state legislative assembly expires on March 13, 2027. Officials expect polls between February and March. The Election Commission of India recently issued transfer guidelines to bolster administrative neutrality.

Kamei Angam Romanus will head law, order, and security planning. Hungyo Worshang takes on excise duties. Khumanthem Diana Devi leads transport management, while Konsam Binku oversees election expenditure monitoring. G. Robert Sharma will manage computerisation and cybersecurity. Ng. Uttam Singh handles the Model Code of Conduct, and W. Phajatombi Devi directs media management.

Other key assignments include Dr. Yumnam Suraj Singh for observers and P. Lenin Singh for communication. Md. Yasser Ahmed Khan covers voter awareness, electronic voting machines, and ballot materials. Lokeshor Brahmacharimayum oversees electoral rolls, manpower, training, and complaint helplines. Ng. Rajesh, L. Nepolean Singh, and Linda Ningombam serve as assistant officers. The move comes as the commission prepares for polls across all 16 districts. The state's ongoing conflict creates major hurdles. Officials aim for credible participation. As one report noted, the task involves "logistical coordination, security arrangements and expenditure monitoring" as key administrative priorities.
