Imphal: Bishnupur authorities are tightening security to shield farmers during the current harvest. The district administration and security forces met Tuesday at the Mini Secretariat Complex to map out protection plans. Violence has plagued the region since May 2023. Farmers now struggle to reach fields in vulnerable fringe areas and buffer zones between hills and valleys. Protecting these workers is a top priority.

Deputy Commissioner Pooja Elangbam called for better coordination between agencies to keep the peace. She stated, "protecting farmers and ensuring a peaceful harvesting season were key priorities, alongside preparations for the democratic exercise." Local forces must manage this effort while juggling duties for next year's Manipur Legislative Assembly election.

Superintendent of Police Ksh. Ravikumar Singh detailed the specific deployments meant to guard active fields. Officers will stand with the farmers. The police force is also using data from past elections to flag spots needing extra protection. Commanders of the Central Armed Police Forces, the Additional District Magistrate, and local Sub-Divisional Officers attended the session to finalize these security measures.
