Imphal: Security forces recovered the severed head of Ajinpou Ringkamai on Wednesday. He was killed five days ago in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district. A joint team of the Central Reserve Police Force and Manipur Police found the remains near Makui village. This location is where Ringkamai died during an October 10 attack involving four Naga men.

Authorities took the remains to the mortuary at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal. The discovery followed a 48-hour deadline issued by Naga groups on October 12. These organizations demanded the government trace the missing remains and identify the attackers. The Joint Tribes Council had previously halted post-mortem exams for 52-year-old Ringkamai and 48-year-old Dibambou Ringkangmai.

The council identified three suspects, Thangboi Kipgen, David Hangsing, and Dr. Sailen Haokip, as the alleged perpetrators. The group claimed these people operate with impunity under the current Suspension of Operations agreement. They held both the Centre and the Manipur government responsible for the violence. A council statement noted, "The allegations against the three individuals have not been independently established." Investigation efforts continue as officials prepare to move forward with the postponed medical exams.
