Imphal: Armed miscreants killed three civilians and injured three others near Nongshum in Imphal East district. The attack occurred at Khongban Sunurok, deep in Kangpokpi district. Security forces swarmed the area. Police commandos and the Central Reserve Police Force launched a massive hunt for the shooters. On October 20, authorities arrested three suspects at Phailenkot. They seized rocket launchers and automatic rifles from the group.

Former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh led an INDIA bloc delegation to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat at Babupara. They met CM Yumnam Khemchand Singh to grill him on the state's crumbling security. Ibobi slammed the BJP for failing to stop the bloodshed between the Kuki, Naga, and Meitei communities. He challenged the administration's fitness to lead. "If the government is unable to safeguard people’s lives and protect their property, does it have the moral authority to govern?" he asked.

The delegation included Congress leader K. Meghachandra Singh, MP Dr. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, and representatives from several smaller parties. They pushed the CM to call an all-party meeting immediately. Ibobi labeled the central government a silent spectator. He claimed the Centre could stop the violence within days if it truly cared to intervene. The Opposition offered to help lobby Delhi if the state needed more support.

CM Khemchand Singh called the meeting cordial. He promised to look into their concerns. He cited the need for collective efforts to restore peace to the region. The group included members from the CPI(M), RSP, All India Forward Bloc, Trinamool Congress, Shiv Sena, Shiv Sena (UBT), and the Nationalist Congress Party.
