East Khasi Hills Police Honors Traffic Officers for Road Safety Work

Shillong: East Khasi Hills Police honored traffic personnel and Home Guards on Tuesday for their commitment to managing roads and public safety. The recognition event took place at the Police Reserve on Jail Road. Officers often endure heavy rain and intense sunshine while working shifts under difficult conditions.

Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem commended the staff for their endurance. He noted that traffic officers frequently face public frustration firsthand during congestion. These personnel manage dangerous situations daily to keep both pedestrians and vehicles moving safely.

Syiem emphasized that traffic staff remain vital during medical emergencies. They clear paths for ambulances caught in jams. "Traffic duty is among the most challenging responsibilities of the police force," Syiem stated. He also honored Samborlang Diengdoh and Anthony Nongkhlaw for their ongoing service and contributions to the department.

These officers act as the primary face of the Meghalaya Police to the public. Syiem urged citizens to work with the force to reduce accidents and congestion. Better public cooperation helps the department function more effectively.
