Small Savings Groups Merge; East Khasi Hills Sets Population Day Event

Shillong: The Meghalaya Small Savings Agents Association merged with the National Small Savings Agents Association, INDIA. Members finalized the deal during a meeting at the Youth Hostel in Shillong. The group formed a new executive committee to steer the organization. Shibu Das took the lead as president. Peter Wankupar Dkhar and Ashok Kr. Chourasia stepped in as vice presidents.

The leadership team includes general secretary Matty Skhembill. Joint secretaries Suparna B. Das and Arvind Kumar Singh will assist, while Brajendra Kr. Upadhaya and Ganesh Kr. Rai manage the finances as treasurers.

Separately, the Office of the District Medical and Health Officer in East Khasi Hills scheduled a public health event. Officials will mark World Population Day 2026 this coming Monday. The session starts at 10 am inside the Indoor Hall at Smit village.
