Students Compete in 26-Hour Code For Nagaland Hackathon

Kohima: Six teams took top honors at the Code For Nagaland hackathon. The event wrapped up on October 16 in Sovima after 113 students from eight colleges spent 26 hours coding. NEXUSCIPHERGUARD INDIA and ICFAI University Nagaland organized the challenge. Participants competed for a share of Rs 1,00,000.

The competition split into three tracks. Team 4th Dimension from Nagaland University, Meriema Campus, won the Naga Heritage, Culture and Community Tech category. Team Merge Conflict from St Joseph's University placed second. Team Brogrammer from ICFAI University claimed the Campus, Youth and Community Life title, with NIELIT Kohima's Team L taking second.

In the Open Innovation Wildcard track, Team Set Kalua from Nagaland University took first place. Team Ostereo-Ai from the National Institute of Technology Nagaland finished second. Judges included YouthNet’s Neikepekho Shosahei, NITI Group CEO Rishav Sethi, and Er Shanchamo Yanthan from Nagaland University.

The non-stop format forced students to manage time and solve technical bugs under pressure. Pangerkumzuk Longkumer, CEO of NEXUSCIPHERGUARD INDIA, said the organizers plan to keep the event running annually. "Code For Nagaland was built around a simple idea: students should have opportunities not only to learn about technology but also to build, experiment, collaborate and test their ideas in a practical setting," Longkumer stated.

Masetshiba Imsong, Director of Operations at NEXUSCIPHERGUARD INDIA, noted that the event aimed to build skills and connections beyond the final scores. Organizers intend to expand the platform to link more students, institutions, and industry mentors across the state.
