Kohima: Twenty students brought new ideas to Town Hall on November 7. They gathered for the Science Exhibition 2026 under the theme SustainaTech: Innovations and Possibilities. The Department of School Education and the Nagaland Education Project organized the event.
Arvind Kumar, the Senior Principal and Administrator of Lighthouse School Complex, kicked things off with a welcome. The Guest of Honour, Rev Dr Chingmak Kejong Chang, pushed students to stay curious. He used Newton's Third Law of Motion to show why practical learning beats rote memorization. He told the teachers that their role extends far beyond the classroom.
Rev Dr Chang reminded the community about their shared duty to guide the next generation. He said, "It requires an entire village to nurture one child." He demanded that educators turn students into capable and responsible adults.
The competition split into three categories. GMS Station-2 took the top spot in the Sub-Junior division with a Water Body Waste Collector. GHSS Tuensang dominated the Junior and Senior categories. They swept awards for projects like Waste and Plastic Management, Smart Farming, and a Microcontroller-Based Environmental Hazard and Slope Warning System.
Judges included Dr Limamanen Phom from Sao Chang College, Vimetuonuo Rutsa from DIET, and Er Temjentoshii from the Government ITI. The event closed with a vote of thanks from PGT and convenor Jungdan.
