Imphal: Manipur officials will now meet every two weeks to tighten security. The state government issued a mandatory Standard Operating Procedure on Friday signed by Chief Secretary Rajeev Singh Thakur. It forces district leaders to synchronize their response to threats. District Magistrates will chair these sessions while Superintendents of Police gather intel from boots on the ground.
Every security force must show up. This includes Civil Police, Armed Police, Central Armed Police Forces, the Indian Army, and the Assam Rifles. If a boss cannot make it, they must send a ranked replacement. Heads of essential services and relief operations also join the table. They cover everything from power grids to road safety.
Meetings zero in on law and order and local intelligence. The group tracks infrastructure risks and community engagement efforts. Officials must also kill rumors before they spiral. The order states: "The SOP further emphasises the need to counter misinformation."
Accountability is built into the new workflow. District Magistrates must keep logs and file progress reports to the Home Department monthly. Critical incidents get an immediate pass to the top, bypassing routine reports. Everyone must stick to their legal lane while sharing data through authorized channels.
