Manipur Security Forces Recover 9,128 Illegal Weapons Amid Conflict

Imphal: Security forces in Manipur recovered 9,128 weapons during the ongoing conflict. This total includes 5,066 firearms snatched from police armouries and another 4,062 guns found elsewhere. Authorities have hit an 84.15 percent recovery rate for the police stock. Still, 954 looted weapons remain missing.

Police and central forces now run nearly six raids every day. They use specialized units to hunt for hidden ammunition and firearms. Most recently seized hardware did not come from police armouries. These finds include old relics, modified guns, and sophisticated weaponry.

A senior police officer noted the complexity of the ongoing surge in illicit hardware. He stated, "Most of the weapons recovered recently were not among those looted from police armouries."

Officials suspect many of these illegal guns arrived from Myanmar. Investigators now rely on forensic tests, serial number tracing, and intelligence reports to map supply routes. The massive volume of recovered arms hints at a broader, deeper web of illegal circulation. With nearly a thousand police weapons still loose, the hunt continues.
