Imphal: Manipur Police hauled in 356 grams of suspected heroin Saturday, November 7. The stash sat hidden inside the gearbox of a Hyundai i20. Officers from the Special CDO Unit found the drugs during a routine operation along National Highway 102 in Imphal West.

The pursuit began near Iland Hospital in Langthabal Kunja Awang Leikai. Police signaled the car to stop. The driver ignored them and gunned it toward Canchipur. Officers chased the suspect until he ditched the vehicle and bolted on foot. He got away.

A search of the car followed in the presence of the Singjamei SDPO. The Mobile Forensic Unit ran preliminary tests on the powder. They confirmed the substance as heroin. Singjamei Police Station now holds both the car and the drugs as evidence. Authorities are moving forward with "further legal proceedings" regarding the case.
