Guwahati: Dispur police hauled six suspects into custody yesterday after a raid at the Laizon SOM-INN Homestay in Chandan Nagar, Chachal. Officers tracked the group following specific intelligence inputs. The bust netted 506 grams of heroin.
The suspects include Lunkhohao Hoakip, 35, Lhunkhohao Hoakip, 37, Henlallum Vaiphei, 30, Nengboi Haokip, 45, Lalam Vaiphei, 42, and Lhing Haokip, 32. Everyone in custody hails from the Churachandpur district in Manipur. The suspects are now behind bars.
An EGPD team from Dispur Police Station led the operation. Police confirmed the seizure and the arrests, stating, "Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the heroin and other details of the case." Legal proceedings against the group have already started.
