Guwahati: Guwahati police intercepted 2.7 kilograms of opium in Amingaon. Officers stopped a truck on the city outskirts during a sting operation. They found the stash hidden inside the vehicle. The truck was moving from Manipur toward Lower Assam.
Police detained Mazarul Islam Laskar and Jeherul Islam Laskar at the scene. Investigators are looking into the pair's network. They want to know who sent the drugs and who was supposed to pick them up.
Authorities say this bust highlights the dangerous transit routes between Manipur and Assam. "The seizure has once again brought attention to the alleged transportation of narcotic substances along interstate routes connecting Manipur and Assam," police stated. Officials are now tracking the supply chain to see if more suspects are involved in the operation.
