Guwahati: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi suspects a broader criminal conspiracy behind the recent shooting at Hotel Bilas Inn in Guwahati. He visited the victims' family in Barpeta on Wednesday. Gogoi believes the shooter, Ghanakanta Gogoi, was likely a pawn for a larger group. The shooter died in a police encounter, but the investigation must not stop there.

Gogoi argues the hit points to a violent land and property syndicate operating in the city. He claims families with property on GS Road and near the airport face constant threats from these groups. He demanded police track down the people pulling the strings. "It cannot be said with certainty that the person who was encountered was acting alone," Gogoi told reporters.

The MP raised sharp questions about the state of law and order. He pointed to the spike in criminal activity alongside frequent police encounters. Investigators need to find the kingpin. He wants to know who hired the shooter and why they targeted the Bharali family. The case stays open until the masterminds face justice.
