Police Bust Pair in Guwahati Arson and Loot Case

Guwahati: West Guwahati Police District officers cuffed two men in Bhetapara for arson, loot, and conspiracy. The arrests followed an operation run by the Gorchuk Police Station. Md Jillat Anam, 46, and Md Tahid Rajib Anam, 51, remain in custody. Both men hail from Bilasipara in the Dhubri district.

The haul is massive. Officers recovered 78 mobile phones, 74 rubber stamps, and one laptop. They also found 11 ATM cards, 19 bank passbooks, and 37 USB drives. The inventory of seized goods included two printers, 42 cheque books, and a key for a Scorpio vehicle.

Police also took 2,73,500 rupees in cash from the pair. Investigators gathered various documents connected to the alleged crimes. "Further legal action has been initiated," police said. The suspects now face formal charges for their roles in the conspiracy.
