Guwahati: Bhangagarh police took Dr. Rishikesh Adhikari into custody following a molestation complaint at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. The incident occurred October 15. A young woman reported the assault took place behind closed doors inside the doctor's cabin.
The patient brought a family member to the hospital to review medical reports. The doctor ordered the relative to wait outside. He then began the consultation alone. The woman told investigators the doctor touched her private parts inappropriately during the exam.
The victim filed reports at the Bhangagarh Police Station and the local Women's Police Station. Officers detained Adhikari for questioning immediately after the claims surfaced. The investigation remains open. Authorities say the "allegations against the doctor have not yet been established" while the inquiry continues.
