Guwahati: Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita represented India as an observer nation at the Ibero-American Summit in Madrid, Spain. The event brought together representatives from 54 countries and multiple international organizations to build stronger cooperation. India joined to expand its diplomatic, economic, and cultural influence.

Margherita took the podium to outline India’s future priorities. He began in English but switched to Spanish midway through his remarks. This move earned him immediate applause from the delegates. Most nations at the summit speak Spanish. Margherita noted India’s deep ties with member states, stating, "Margherita highlighted the country's longstanding relations with Ibero-American member nations and outlined India's priorities for future engagement and cooperation with the participating countries."

This participation opens a new chapter for Indian foreign policy. Officials expect the move to solidify partnerships across the region.
