US Ambassador Sergio Gor Visits Manipur Amid Tight Security

Shillong: US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor landed in Imphal on September 11. He immediately hit two of the state's biggest landmarks. Gor toured the historic Kangla Fort and the famous women-run Khwairamband Ema Keithel market. He is currently staying at the Classic Grande in Chingmeirong.

High-level meetings fill the rest of his schedule. Sources confirm Gor will meet Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh at 5:15 pm. A meeting with Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla follows at 5:45 pm. The diplomat plans to stay the night at Sendra, located near Loktak Lake in Moirang.

Security is tight. Authorities have placed strict limits on media access during these engagements. As one official noted, "The visit is being conducted amid tight security arrangements, with media access restricted at the scheduled engagements."
