Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will headline the BJP's Loktantra Bachao Arajakta Hatao march in Shimla on November 1. Party state president Rajeev Bindal confirmed the plan on October 28. The rally kicks off at the Old Bus Stand and moves toward Chaura Maidan. Sarma will march alongside Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, MPs Anurag Singh Thakur and Suresh Kashyap, and other top leaders. State vice-president Bittu Verma is running the logistics.

The party has four marches on the calendar. The first hits Dharamshala on October 30 led by MP Rajeev Bhardwaj and former Assembly Speaker Vipin Singh Parmar. Two final events follow on November 4. Jai Ram Thakur leads the Mandi march with former minister Suresh Bhardwaj. Rajeev Bindal takes the lead in Hamirpur with assistance from Randhir Sharma, Anurag Singh Thakur, and Satpal Singh Satti.

Bindal claims these events protect the constitution. He blames the Congress and the INDIA bloc for current instability. Bindal even compared the situation to foreign unrest. He said, "The Congress of attempting to create conditions similar to those in Bangladesh to bring about a change of government through unconstitutional means." The BJP aims to fire up public support after blaming the opposition for repeated electoral failures.
