Guwahati: Senior Congress leader Debabrata Saikia slammed rumors linking him to the Bharatiya Janata Party. He accused Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of pushing false political propaganda to mislead voters. Saikia claims the Chief Minister uses social media networks and machinery to manufacture these claims ahead of elections. It is a calculated move.
Saikia remains firmly tied to the secular and democratic ideals of the Indian National Congress. He stated that he would not join the BJP unless the party abandons its communal politics. He pointed to the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi and the legacy of Jawaharlal Nehru to justify his stance. "There is no question whatsoever of joining the BJP," Saikia said.
The former Opposition Leader in the Assam Assembly claimed the BJP uses intimidation to force leaders into their ranks. He cited his track record since 2016 as proof of his dedication to the people. He has fought for public rights in both the Legislative Assembly and the courts. Political pressure will not change his path. Saikia vowed to keep fighting against the misrule of the BJP government in Assam.
