Guwahati: Special Task Force officers intercepted a Tata Yodha at Amingaon on October 28. They recovered 20.432 kg of opium stashed inside the vehicle's spare wheel. The drugs originated in Senapati, Manipur. The truck was headed to a neighboring state. Officials pinned the street value at 3 crore rupees, though CID estimates sit closer to 1 crore.

Police arrested the driver, 42-year-old Md Shahid Ali. He lives in Chawul Khowa village in the Nalbari district. The operation moved fast. Additional Superintendent of Police Kalyan Kumar Pathak led the team after receiving specific intelligence tips. Officers seized the vehicle, marked with registration AS 01 PC 0730, during the bust.

Authorities are now building their case. "Necessary legal proceedings were being initiated in connection with the seizure," officials said. Investigators hope to uncover the broader drug network as they continue to process the evidence.
