Police Seize 45 Kilograms of Opium in Senapati

Imphal: Senapati District Police arrested two men on August 20 after a routine stop turned into a major drug bust. Officers intercepted a Mahindra Thar Roxx at Khongnem Thana village. They searched the vehicle and found 46 packets containing roughly 45 kilograms of suspected opium.

The suspects are Sanesh Limbu, 25, and Sachin Thapa, 20. Both men live at Irang Part-1, Lamchok, within the jurisdiction of the Kangpokpi Police Station. Officers seized the vehicle, the drugs, and 10,000 rupees in cash found inside the SUV. Authorities took the pair into custody immediately. Officials confirmed that "further legal action and investigation are underway" regarding the seizure.

State security forces hit multiple targets on August 20. In a separate operation in Jiribam, authorities intercepted a boat near Tipidor and Choudhurykhal villages, arresting six people. That raid yielded 9.412 kilograms of WY tablets and 177 grams of heroin.

Meanwhile, a joint team from Moreh Police and the 36 Assam Rifles scoured the brush near Border Pillar 73. They dug up a hidden cache containing an M15 rifle, an MA G3, a pistol, and a collection of country-made firearms. The haul also included 10 radios, five drone bombs, five IEDs, two grenades, and bulletproof gear.
