Imphal: Manipur police and security forces took six people into custody during two drug busts in Senapati district. Officers seized 895 grams of suspected brown sugar during the back-to-back operations on National Highway-2.

A joint team of Mao police and 16 Assam Rifles stopped a car at Mao Bazar on October 16. They found 91 grams of brown sugar packed into seven soap cases. Police arrested Pusham Rosan, 40, and Md Arshad Alam, 25, at the scene. Investigators traced the supply chain to Assam, leading to the October 17 arrests of Rahish Khan, 22, and Md Warish Khan, 25. The department noted that "further investigation is underway to establish the source of the contraband and identify any other persons involved in the alleged drug supply network."

The next day, a second team hit a checkpoint at Khongnem Thana village. Senapati district police worked with F/142 CRPF and B/109 CRPF units to stop a Scorpio vehicle. They uncovered 45 soap cases holding 804 grams of brown sugar. Officers arrested the occupants, Tarsus, 31, and Sarah, 40. Both suspects live in Laii village. Police seized the Scorpio, registered as NL01H6982, and its key as evidence.
