Imphal: Manipur security forces arrested four people during raids on September 23. They pulled contraband and weapons off the streets in a single day. Imphal West district police worked with the 33 Assam Rifles to raid a hideout in Zone-III of Langol Game Village. They grabbed 53-year-old Konthoujam Rita Devi, also known as Maya. She lives in Yairipok Angtha Mamang Leikai. Police claim she belongs to the Revolutionary People’s Front and People’s Liberation Army. She allegedly recruited new members for the outfit.
Officers also picked up 22-year-old Md Shoaib Akhtar at North AOC. He had four gold bars weighing about 664 grams stashed away. Akhtar hails from Lilong Khunou in Thoubal district. Police handed him and the gold to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence. A joint team from Patsoi police and the 164 Battalion of the Border Security Force stopped a TVS NTORQ scooter at Lilong Chajing Mamang Leikai. They detained 39-year-old Abdul Majid of Kiyamgei Muslim Takhok Makhan. They found 1.015 kg of brown sugar on him.
Special commandos apprehended 30-year-old Seram Banerjee Meitei for shooting at security forces in Khonghampat. They sent him to the Sekmai police station. A search of his property turned up an AK rifle, two INSAS magazines, one 36 HE hand grenade, and 71 live rounds. Police state that "further investigation into the case is underway." Additional weapons surfaced elsewhere in the state on the same day.

Beyond the initial four arrests, security forces snagged two more suspects on September 23. A joint team from Imphal East commandos, the 31 Assam Rifles, and the 4 Mahar Regiment busted two alleged KCP (MFL) cadres during an operation in Awang Sekmai. Investigators claim both men were shaking down locals for cash.
The suspects include 24-year-old Yumnam Bidyasagar Meitei, also known as Sagar, who was nabbed at his rented spot at Awang Sekmai Lai Pat. Officers also hauled in 24-year-old Salam Malemnganba Singh, alias Wanglen or Robot, near the PDA Ground in Awang Sekmai.

Security forces expanded their sweep on September 24, hitting the foothills of Seijang Cheirao Ching under the Yaingangpokpi police station. A joint team of Imphal East commandos and security forces unearthed a hidden cache of weapons and explosives during the operation.
The recovery inventory included six 12-bore guns, with four of them homemade, plus a 9 mm pistol and magazine. The haul also contained two 36-series hand grenades, two 2-inch mortar shells, and a 51 mm mortar shell. Beyond the hardware, investigators pulled out 18 live rounds, 178 spent casings, six EMULDYNE explosive sticks, three primers, two wired detonators, and seven arming rings. Officials are now tracking where the gear came from and what it was intended for.

Security forces picked up another suspected member of the RPF and its armed wing, the PLA, on September 24. Commandos from the Kakching unit pulled 49-year-old Sanjenbam Abung Singh, also known as Krishna, from his home in Irengband Mayai Leikai. He is the son of the late S. Chaoba Singh and is now being processed at the Kakching police station.

Security forces expanded the crackdown on September 24 with fresh arrests in the Imphal West district. Imphal West commandos grabbed two alleged KCP (MFL) cadres at Tabungkhok Mayai Leikai near Patsoi. The suspects, 38-year-old Phandom Dinesh Singh and 34-year-old Aheibam Silan Meitei, were hauled in with two Chinese hand grenades, a Glock 19 pistol with five rounds of ammunition, and a Honda Activa scooter.
In a separate strike within the same district, commandos picked up 25-year-old Okram Gobin Meitei in the Langjing area. Police identify him as an active RPF/PLA cadre and allege he was involved in extortion rackets.

The Revolutionary People's Front is pushing back against police claims regarding one of the September 23 arrests. In a statement issued by Assistant Secretary of Publicity Bangkim, the outfit denied any link to 53-year-old Konthoujam Rita, also known as Maya. The RPF explicitly stated she has no association with the group or its armed wing, the PLA.
