Imphal: Manipur police and security forces hauled in four alleged insurgents during separate busts on September 28. The operations spanned multiple districts to root out active members of outlawed outfits.

A joint team from the Imphal East district police and security forces picked up 23-year-old Waikhom Hero Meetei, also known as Ibomcha, in Sanjenbam Khunou. Meetei belongs to the KCP (Nongdrenkhomba). Authorities suspect he helped abduct a woman from her home in Top Awang Leikai. He now sits at the Lamlai police station awaiting legal action.

The Bishnupur district police unit tracked down 55-year-old Md Islaouddin, or Ibosana, at Lilong Tairen Makhong. The resident of Lilong Mairen Khun allegedly spent his time recruiting new fighters for the NRFM. Another unit from the Special CDO team in Khabeisoi grabbed 24-year-old Waikhom Sena at his house in Luwangsangbam Mamang Leikai.

Sena holds the title of president of the Manipur Student Federation for the Imphal East region. Investigators claim he handled unauthorized cash deals and wrote press releases for the NRFM. Officers seized an Apple MacBook and Rs 2.67 lakh in cash during the search. Police stated the equipment "was used to draft articles and press releases for the organisation."

The Imphal West district police team rounded out the day with a raid in Kangmong Maisnam Maning Leikai. They took 24-year-old Khumbongmayum Ranjan Singh, alias KK, into custody. Singh lives in Moidangpok Khunou Mayai Leikai and reportedly works with the KCP (PWG).

The arrest of Khumbongmayum Ranjan Singh stems from a blast at the residence of Oinam Pamheiba, a Forest Range Officer based in Noney district. The explosion occurred around 2 am on Sunday at Kongba Kshetri Leikai, falling under the jurisdiction of the Irilbung police station. While the blast damaged property, no one was hurt.

A. Luwangba, the media coordinator for the KCP, claimed the outfit's Special Task Force carried out the bombing. The group alleged that Pamheiba failed to pay a revolutionary tax imposed since 2025 and stated that both Pamheiba and another forest official, Takhelambam Tiken, had been under surveillance.
