Imphal: Security forces arrested seven PRE-PAK (Pro) cadres in Manipur on October 4. The crackdown focused on the outfit's recruitment drives and a August 28, 2026, bomb blast at a lawmaker's home. Teams from the Chief of Defence Organisation in Imphal West carried out the search operations. They acted on reliable information to corner the suspects across Imphal West and surrounding areas.
Authorities identified the detainees as Usham Rakesh Singh, Yumnam Athoibi Chanu, RK Dayapati Devi, Ahongshangbam Jet Meitei, Naorem Lanthoiba Singh, and Ayekpam Stephen Meitei. One additional cadre remains unnamed. Officials also apprehended one child in conflict with law during the raids. A juvenile was saved from recruitment during the sweep.
Investigators linked Chanu and Devi directly to the August bombing at the residence of the MLA representing the Konthoujam Assembly constituency. The other detainees allegedly managed the group's efforts to enlist new members. Officials stated, "Security teams also recovered a yellow Honda Activa 6G scooter bearing registration number MN01AJ 4957." Police moved the suspects and the seized scooter to the Lamphel Police Station to process the case.
