Imphal: A joint team of Imphal East District Police and security forces captured a high-level militant on October 9. They raided Thinungei village in the Bishnupur district. Intelligence reports guided the operation. The team arrested 37-year-old Laimayum Naobi Devi, also known as Nirupama. Authorities label her an active cadre of the Revolutionary People's Front and its armed wing, the People's Liberation Army.

Police claim the woman stored a hand grenade at her home in 2025. She acted on direct orders from a handler. Approximately 15 days before the raid, Devi allegedly handed the explosive to a contact near the main gate of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal. Officers are now tracking the unidentified recipient.

The arrest highlights an intensified campaign against local insurgents. Officials say, "Further investigation is expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged delivery and identify the person who received the grenade." Law enforcement continues to comb the state for similar threats.
