Police Seize 3.5kg of Brown Sugar in Manipur Drug Bust

Imphal: Manipur security forces intercepted 3.5 kg of suspected brown sugar on October 10. A joint team from the Bishnupur Criminal Detection Unit and Moirang Police Station pulled the drugs off the street during a routine check. They caught the suspect at Okshobung on Tiddim Road.

Officers arrested 46-year-old Md. Abir Khan at the scene. Khan is the son of Md. Siraj Ahamat and hails from Oinam Sawombung Makha Leikai in Imphal West. Reports state he was staying in Tuibong. Police also grabbed a Hero Destini 125 scooter linked to the operation. The vehicle remains under investigation.

Authorities are now working to identify the origin of the drugs and where they were headed. A forensic team will analyze the haul to confirm the substance. Law enforcement continues to target local trafficking routes. A police spokesperson noted, "Police and other security personnel have been conducting checking operations at various locations to detect suspected drug consignments and identify those allegedly involved in the narcotics trade." Officials have not released further details as the probe continues.
