Security Forces Arrest KCP Member After Imphal Bombing

Imphal: Security forces captured a member of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party on Monday. Imphal West district commandos nabbed 24-year-old Khumbongmayum Ranjan Singh during a joint search operation at Kangmong Maisnam Maning Leikai. The arrest followed a Sunday morning explosion at the residence of Oinam Pamheiba, a Forest Range Officer working in Noney district.

The bomb detonated around 2 am at Kongba Kshetri Leikai within the Irilbung police station zone. Property suffered damage, but the blast caused no injuries or deaths. The armed wing of the KCP took responsibility for the strike.

A. Luwangba, the media coordinator for the outfit, stated the group's Special Task Force conducted the operation. The organization claimed Pamheiba ignored repeated warnings to pay a so-called "revolutionary tax" imposed in 2025. The militants further alleged they kept Pamheiba and another forest official, Takhelambam Tiken, under surveillance.

Police have filed formal cases regarding the bombing and the arrest. Investigators are currently checking the suspect for further ties to the banned outfit.
