Imphal: Manipur Police hauled in five suspects on August 11. Security forces conducted operations across Imphal East and Kakching districts to target drug trafficking and militant activity. Officers seized 22.75 kg of cannabis and 142 bottles of codeine during the busts.
In Kakching, police took 46-year-old Sanasam Amumacha Singh, also known as Solomon, into custody at his home in Waikhong Ningthou Manai. Officials identified him as a cadre of the RPF/PLA. The arrest occurred under the jurisdiction of the Waikhong police station.
A separate raid in Imphal East targeted 27-year-old Oinam (Ongbi) Tenden Devi of Sekta Awang Leikai. A joint force comprised of CDO Imphal East, women police, and the 28 Assam Rifles captured her for alleged drug dealing. They found 22.75 kg of cannabis and a mobile phone on her. Officials noted, "The team recovered 22.75 kg of suspected cannabis and a mobile phone from her possession."
Police struck again at Mantripukhri Bazar. Heingang police and CDO Imphal East teams acted on intelligence to stop a Hyundai i20 with the plate HR 26BB 8564. They arrested three men: 28-year-old Mohammad Akilur Rahaman, 21-year-old Aribam Iftar, and 44-year-old Md Iqubal Khan. This bust cleared 142 bottles of codeine syrup from the streets. The cache included 116 bottles of Cody Late and 26 bottles of DelStal, each holding 100 ml. Authorities are still digging into these cases.

Beyond the drug busts, police recovered a black Hyundai Creta stolen from Delhi. Churachandpur officers traced the SUV by its chassis number, MALPB812TRM768626, and handed it over to a Delhi Police team at Kangvai. This operation points to a widening net cast by state forces working alongside central agencies to bust inter-state vehicle theft rings.
Authorities also swept up more suspects linked to banned outfits in 24-hour operations. In Imphal East, police grabbed 23-year-old Yensembam Anao Meitei, an alleged KCP (MFL) extortionist, at Kongba Lairenpat. They also picked up 27-year-old Wakambam Rahul Meetei, alias Thenao, who police claim works for KCP (Apunba). Another operation in Kakching netted a juvenile tied to the UPPK for extortion, while a similar UPPK-linked suspect fell in the Khongjom area of Thoubal district.

Authorities tacked on more details to the stolen Hyundai Creta recovery. The vehicle, linked to an Uttam Nagar police station case in Delhi, carries the engine number G4FLRV760297. Officials handed the SUV over to a visiting Delhi Police team after processing the chassis and engine data.
The crackdown on insurgent networks widened with more arrests. Police picked up Wahengbam Apoicha Meitei, 45, an alleged RPF/PLA cadre, in Hiyanglam Awang Leikai. In Imphal West, Sekmai police collared 38-year-old Longjam Arjun alias Naobi, a suspected KCP/MJC extortionist originally from Samurou Makha Leikai. Additionally, Thoubal commandos raided the Sapam area to pull in 41-year-old Chongtham Premchand Singh, who police identify as an active KYKL extortionist. Authorities also clarified that the juvenile detained in Kakching was picked up in Hiyanglam Mayai Leikai, while the KCP/Apunba suspect, Wakambam Rahul Meetei, was grabbed in Porompat Soibam Leikai.

Security forces expanded their sweep on August 13 by picking up three more RPF/PLA cadres. Officers arrested Amom Ingocha Singh, 57, at his home in Wangoo Heinouyam Awang Leikai, Kakching. They also pulled in 49-year-old Ningthoujam Khema Meitei from the Kakching Irumpal area and 58-year-old Ningombam Ibomcha Meetei from his residence in Sagolband Mabudhou Mantri Leikai, Imphal West.
In a separate push on August 12, Bishnupur commandos nabbed 51-year-old Yumkhaibam Brojen of Sajirok Mayai Leikai. Police link the alleged UNLF (Koireng) member to a kidnapping and shooting case handled by the Patsoi police station.
Authorities also struck in Senapati district, where they intercepted Imliakum Longkumer, 46, of Mokokchung, Nagaland, at Khongnem Thana village. A search of his Mahindra Bolero turned up 37 soap cases stuffed with 446 grams of suspected narcotics.

Security forces tightened the screws in Churachandpur on August 12, pulling in two suspected United Kuki National Army (UKNA) fighters from Khengjang village. Troops stripped them of an AK rifle, a 9 mm pistol, 12 rounds of 7.62 mm ammo, a Baofeng radio, and a Royal Enfield motorcycle.
The NIA caught a bigger fish in the same district, arresting S. Palal Kuki at Old Gelmol village. The agency labels him the finance head of the UKNA and blames him for a string of terror acts, including the April 7 bombing at Tronglaobi Awang Leikai that killed two children. Investigators link Kuki to several firefights earlier this year, including a clash near a CRPF camp in Bishnupur.
Meanwhile, joint teams swept through Kangpokpi district, searching Joupi and Khoirok villages. They hauled in a weapons cache containing a .22 rifle, five single-barrel guns, and 158 rounds of 12-bore ammunition. Four walkie-talkies and chargers were also bagged in the raid. Two locals, 31-year-old Henminthang Haokip and 25-year-old Jamminlal Kipgen, were detained for questioning regarding the gear.
