Manipur Police Arrest Four Insurgents in Statewide Raids

Imphal: Manipur Police hauled in four active insurgents during coordinated raids on Monday, July 27. The arrests spanned Kakching, Imphal East, and Imphal West districts. These sweeps target banned outfits and dismantle illegal money schemes.

Officers nabbed two SOREPA members near Nungoo Lamkhai in the Kakching district. Marcus Thiyam and Heikrujam William Meitei, both 22, live in Khongyam Makha Leikai. They are now in custody.

Police found a third insurgent hiding in an abandoned house at New Lambulane. Yendrembam Athouba Meitei, 21, belongs to the RPF/PLA. The suspect hails from Moreh Premnagar Ward No. 4 in Tengnoupal district. Law enforcement officials stated that these arrests occurred during state-wide efforts to stifle militancy. They emphasized the need to curb violence through these "coordinated security operations conducted across the state."

A fourth arrest took place in the Langdum Lamkhai area near Irilbung Police Station. Police cuffed Yensenbam Chandrasen Meitei, 52, an alleged extortionist linked to the KCP (MFL). Detectives continue to build their cases against all four suspects.
