Shillong: A truck smashed into a Maruti 800 near the Air Force station at 7th Mile in Upper Shillong. The collision happened Tuesday at 1.30 am. Shailang Sawkmie, 30, died at the scene. His passenger, 25-year-old Emarson Nongsteng of Nongkynrih, suffered injuries in the wreck. The truck driver did not stop.
A 108 emergency ambulance rushed the victims to Civil Hospital. Police are now tracking the unidentified truck. Authorities stated, "efforts are on to trace the unidentified truck." Investigators continue to probe the fatal hit-and-run.
