Imphal: The Indian Institute of Packaging, Kolkata Centre, joined forces with the District Industries Centres of Thoubal and Kakching to host a training program in Manipur. Held at the Youth Volunteers Union Conference Hall in Thoubal Khunou, the two-day event focuses on branding and packaging food and non-food items. This initiative runs under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance Project, specifically Phase II of the Brand Manipur program for the 2026-27 financial year.
Dr. Amit Singla, Joint Director at IIP Kolkata, praised the government for pushing these workshops. He believes the training will lift the skills of local youth and small business owners. Branding matters. Products often fail to find a foothold in domestic or global markets without sharp, effective packaging.
The government finished Phase I across 15 districts of Manipur before moving to this latest session. About 30 people attended this specific training, joining a pool of 400 MSMEs already put through the program. Dr. Nilay Kanti Pramanik, Deputy Director at IIP Kolkata, noted the primary goal remains clear. He stated, "The Government is conducting such programmes to promote local products through proper branding and packaging."
