Imphal: A joint team of Heirok Police and the 10th Battalion of the Border Security Force uncovered a hidden stash of weapons on September 16. The recovery occurred at Heirok Part-III Uyok Ching Mamang in the Thoubal district. Soldiers and police worked together to sweep the area as part of an ongoing mission to pull illegal hardware off the streets.
The haul included one double-barrelled breech-loading gun and a country-made rifle complete with a magazine. Officers also seized 20 live rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition. The gear was taken into custody for forensic study and processing. "The recovery of the country-made rifle and live ammunition has prompted further scrutiny into the source and possible ownership of the seized arms."
Investigators are now running checks to link the stash to local militants or other criminal groups. Authorities are tracking the movement of these weapons to identify the owners. No further details are public yet. The investigation remains active.
