Agartala: Education officials in Tripura are hitting the streets to fix attendance gaps. A team from the Directorate of Elementary Education skipped the office on Monday. They conducted a surprise inspection at Karaimura Higher Basic School in Charilam.
Deputy Director Oyindrila Majumder led the team. They checked the classrooms, teaching quality, and Mid-Day Meal operations. The group praised headmistress Smt Basana Rani Das for creating a productive kitchen garden. They also looked at nursery instruction and the NIPUN Tripura program.
Teachers are using custom learning materials to keep kids engaged. The team verified these tools match student age and comprehension needs. This push for literacy and numeracy relies on interactive, experience-based lessons. Officials saw firsthand how these materials sustain interest in schoolwork.
The department is not stopping at the classroom door. Majumder, joined by OSDs and officers Abhijit Samajpati, Jatan Debbarma, Pankaj Dalal, and Inspector Uttam kr Dutta, tracked down seven students at their homes. These children had been skipping classes and even missing exams.
The officials held blunt talks with students and parents. They pushed families to prioritize attendance and keep kids in the classroom. Officials stated, "The underlying objective is not merely to ensure enrolment but to help every child remain connected to the education system and receive uninterrupted opportunities to learn and develop."
Families responded well to the home visits. Parents promised to keep their kids in class. The department hopes this direct link between schools and homes will keep attendance numbers steady.
