Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha laid the foundation stones for five new school buildings in the capital on Friday. This effort aims to boost education infrastructure across the state. The project covers the PM SHRI A.D. Nagar Higher Secondary English Medium School, Bardowali Class XII School, Netaji Subhash Vidyaniketan, Charipara Class XII School, and Hapania Class XII School. The government is spending Rs 29.12 crore on these specific builds.
Saha also launched the NAKSHA pilot project and opened new classrooms in 240 schools. The state recently spent Rs 1178.43 crore to improve 213 schools and secured approval for upgrades to another 240. Officials must now ensure proper teacher-student ratios and curb dropout rates. "The country's future would be led by those who possess knowledge," Saha noted.
The Chief Minister directed staff to monitor teacher attendance and maintain school hygiene. He ordered the construction of boundary walls at all schools, with a specific focus on those serving girls. Saha also pushed students to prioritize classroom learning over private tutoring. Agartala Mayor Dipak Majumder, MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, Education Secretary Dr. Milind Ramteke, and Director Dr. Samit Ray Chowdhury attended the event.
