Agartala: Tripura Pradesh Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha slammed the state government for misleading the public on electricity costs. He labels the recent 100 crore rupee subsidy announcement a hypocritical move. Just weeks ago, the Power Minister claimed the department had no say in rate hikes. He blamed the Tripura Electricity Regulatory Commission for all charges.

Saha called that previous claim an attempt to shirk responsibility. Public anger over bills sparked a mass movement across the state. Now, the ruling party holds thanksgiving events to celebrate the subsidy. Saha demands to know how the government will fund this relief. He also wants to see the specific math behind the distribution mechanism.

"After extracting huge sums from consumers through inflated tariffs, why suddenly declare subsidies?" Saha asked. He remains skeptical of the plan. The Congress leader refuses to back the policy until the government proves it offers genuine help. The party is waiting to see how the money hits consumer accounts before deciding their next move.
