Staff Shortages and Decay Cripple Lembucherra School

Agartala: Shambhu Chandra Para Senior Basic School sits in Lembucherra, within the Lefunga jurisdiction of Mohanpur subdivision. The institution is falling apart. It currently operates with only four teachers instead of the eight required by official norms.

Staff must handle multiple classes at once. This creates chaos. Education quality is plummeting as teachers scramble to cover gaps. The physical facility remains in a state of disrepair. Students lack proper toilets, which leaves girls struggling to maintain basic hygiene on campus.

The school grounds lack a boundary wall. Livestock, including cattle and goats, wander onto the property and drift near classroom doors. This creates a filthy, unsafe environment for children. Headmaster Jayanta Debbarma is pushing for immediate help from the Education Department to fill vacancies and build the necessary infrastructure.

Debbarma says: "These problems have persisted for years without permanent solutions. We need urgent action to restore normal teaching conditions and safeguard students' learning environment." Local parents are backing these demands. They warn that continued neglect will ruin the educational future of every child in the area.
