Imphal: A high-speed collision on National Highway-102 killed one man and injured seven people late Saturday. The crash happened near Khangabok Sanilou at 10:20 pm. It involved an i20, a Maruti Van, and a Honda Activa.
Ningthoujam Inaocha Singh, 38, died at the scene. He lived in Heirok Part-II. The wreck occurred on the Imphal-Moreh stretch near the 3rd India Reserve Battalion. Thoubal police responded to the carnage immediately. They confirmed, "The deceased was identified as Ningthoujam Inaocha Singh (38), son of Subol, a resident of Heirok Part-II, Chingdompok."
The i20 moved from Wangjing toward Thoubal before hitting the other vehicles. Naorem Inaocha, 44, and Biken, 44, suffered injuries inside the i20. Maruti Van passengers Moirangthem Pradip, 26, and Nongthombam Dasa Singh, 20, also required care. Md. Suhail Abbas, 24, Md. Jamal, 32, and Md. Imran, 37, were riding the scooter during the smash.
Medics at Thoubal District Hospital currently treat the seven survivors. Police seized the mangled vehicles to begin an investigation. Workers moved the dead man to the JNIMS mortuary for a post-mortem exam.
