Shillong: Manipur Police and security forces tracked down two militants during operations on July 16. The coordinated strikes hit targets across Bishnupur and Thoubal districts.
Officers arrested 25-year-old Khundrakpam Boynao Meitei in the Ningthoukhong Loktak Project area. They identified him as a cadre of the Manipur Peoples Defence Force. Police seized a .32 calibre pistol, five live rounds, and Rs 1 lakh in cash. He hails from Khangabok Leipat Leikai in Thoubal district.
Security teams struck again the same day. They grabbed Tourangbam David Singh, also known as Sanamba, at his home. The 24-year-old active cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party (People's War Group) lived at Wangjing Bazar Lamding Laishram Leikai. This arrest occurred within the jurisdiction of the Thoubal Police Station.
State authorities view these arrests as part of a wider crackdown. Police said the arrests were made as part of ongoing security operations against insurgent groups operating in the state. Investigators are currently working to determine the full scope of their networks.
