Imphal: A high-speed crash killed one man and injured seven others late Saturday night on National Highway 102. The wreck occurred near the Khangabok Sanilou stretch, close to the 3rd India Reserve Battalion camp in Thoubal district.
Authorities confirmed the collision happened at 10:20 pm. A Hyundai i20 headed toward Thoubal slammed into a Maruti van and a Honda Activa scooter coming from the opposite direction. Ningthoujam Inaocha Singh, 38, died on the road. The force of the impact left vehicles wrecked and debris across the tarmac. Police noted, "The impact resulted in all three vehicles crashing into one another."
Medics rushed seven survivors to Thoubal District Hospital. The wounded i20 passengers are Naorem Inaocha, 44, and Biken. The Maruti van occupants are Moirangthem Pradip, 26, and Nongthombam Dasa Singh, 20. The Honda Activa riders are Md. Suhail Abbas, 24, Md. Jamal, 32, and Md. Imran, 37.
Police moved the body of the deceased to the JNIMS mortuary for a post-mortem. Officers seized all three vehicles. They have registered a case to pinpoint the cause of the disaster.
