Imphal: A decomposed body surfaced in the Wangjing River near Lamding Laikol in Manipur's Thoubal district on August 11. Police identified the deceased as 60-year-old Khundongbam Bidhumakhi, a resident of Heirok Part-II Mayai Leikai. She vanished on July 22, and her family officially alerted the Heirok Police Station about her disappearance on July 24.

The victim had returned to live at her parental home after a previous marriage. Records indicate she suffered from heart and liver conditions, alongside bouts of mental health struggles. Locals spotted the remains floating in the water and alerted authorities. Thoubal Police and a forensic team arrived on the scene to document the area and secure evidence.

While officials handed the body to the family for a post-mortem at a hospital morgue, the investigation remains wide open. Some residents suggest foul play. When asked about the potential for criminal activity, police confirmed they are keeping an open mind. A spokesperson stated, "No possibility has been ruled out and that all angles are being examined as part of the investigation." Officers are now working to piece together exactly how she ended up in the river.
