Guwahati: Tensions at Marwari Hindi High School and Shri Agrasen Academy have reached a breaking point. Dibrugarh District Commissioner Bikram Kairi ordered a four-member inquiry to probe the foundation’s management, land holdings, and finances. Sub-Divisional Officer Samujjwal Bora leads the team. They have 30 days to report on everything from salary payments to Right to Education Act compliance.

The trouble goes deeper than just an investigation. A court has frozen all bank accounts held by the Marwari Education Foundation. Civil Judge (Senior Division) issued the order in Misc. (J) Case No. 150/2026. The freeze stops any spending, though the judge made one exception. Schools can still pay staff salaries and electricity bills. The judge noted, "The court, however, permitted the payment of legitimate salaries of teachers and employees and electricity bills necessary for the uninterrupted functioning of the institutions."

Five top officials have quit, including president Nirmal Beria and secretary Mahabir Prasad Bagaria. Bagaria recently filed a police complaint regarding the CBSE affiliation of Shri Agrasen Academy. He alleges the academy faked land documents to meet board requirements. He claims the school falsely combined its land with the neighboring Marwari Hindi High School to hit size quotas. He wants authorities to review the CBSE application and a March 2022 video of the group's annual meeting.

An election for the foundation was set for October 4. Now, that date is up in the air. The court will pick up the case again on October 5. For now, the schools remain in administrative limbo.
