Guwahati: Activists want a hospital upgrade. The Doomdooma unit of the Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuva-Chatra Parishad officially requested that the Assam government transform the local 30-bed First Referral Unit into a full-fledged co-district hospital. The group filed a formal memorandum with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the state Health Minister via the local co-district Commissioner.

Demand is skyrocketing. The current facility struggles to handle patients from Doomdooma, Digboi, Sadiya, and Makum. It serves over 50 tea gardens alongside surrounding urban and village populations. The organization insists the infrastructure fails to meet the needs of residents, government employees, and personnel stationed at national security sites.

The memorandum calls for immediate action. AJYCP regional president Hirak Jyoti Moran and general secretary Chhatrapati Moran signed the request. "The hospital's capacity and infrastructure needs to be expanded to meet the region's growing healthcare requirements," the organization stated in its appeal. They are pushing for a formal declaration to solidify the facility as the regional hub for care.
