Man killed, wife critical in Imphal East home invasion

Imphal: Unidentified assailants stormed a home in the Keirao Wangkhem locality of Manipur's Imphal East district around 2.30 am on Monday. The attackers used a firearm and a sharp-edged weapon to assault the couple inside their residence.

N Thambou, 52, died at the scene. His wife, 53-year-old N Keinatombi Devi, sustained grievous injuries during the raid. Paramedics rushed her to Shija Hospitals, where she remains in critical condition. Authorities transported Thambou's body to the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

Police have not determined a motive for the violence. Investigators have registered a case and are working to identify the suspects. Police said, "The motive behind the attack has not yet been established." Officers continue to hunt for the attackers.
