Imphal: The 66th Battalion of the CRPF held a 10-kilometer mini marathon today at the DC Office Complex in Thoubal, Manipur. The event operated under the banner of Sports for Peace and Development Across the Nation. It pushed physical fitness and community spirit. Suresh Yadav, 2IC Ops of the 66 Battalion, officially flagged off the race.
Exactly 284 local youths hit the pavement to run. The competition split into an open men’s division and an open female category. Kh Zabed Hussain finished first among the men to take home 10,000 rupees. Ningthoujam Diviya Devi grabbed the top spot for the women, also winning 10,000 rupees. Second and third place finishers in the female category received 6,000 and 4,000 rupees respectively.
Yadav spoke with the media after the event concluded. He noted that the battalion holds these gatherings annually to boost local talent. "This is being organized in Thoubal by the 66 Battalion of the CRPF," he said. He added that the unit previously held a football tournament and intends to continue hosting both marathons and sports matches to support local youth striving for success.
