Imphal: The Kangpokpi District Internally Displaced Persons Welfare Committee finalized its new leadership team during a general body meeting at the EBCCF Campus in Saparmeina. Hegin Haokip stepped up as the committee president. The group faces an ongoing humanitarian crisis. Thangboi Haokip and Lungoulen Guite took the vice president slots, while Lunminlal Baite became the general secretary.
The administrative team also includes Lutminlun Hangshing and S.K. as joint secretaries, Lalboi Khongsai managing finance, and Ginlal handling information and publicity. Hatnu Kipgen serves as the treasurer. Pastor Tongkhojang Lhouvum of KIBC Kangpokpi led a prayer to dedicate the group to their new roles. The committee aims to "strengthen the committee's efforts to represent the concerns and safeguard the welfare of internally displaced persons" in the area.
Displacement remains a heavy burden for local families. These leaders must handle socio-economic hardships and push for better welfare initiatives. The assembly ended with a final prayer for guidance as the team begins their work.
